Lasagna is one of my favorite comfort foods. Unfortunately, it's loaded with carbs and fat that doesn't agree with my waistline. Luckily, I stumbled upon a weight watchers version that doesn't cut out the meat or cheese thanks to www.isavea2z.com
The recipe for this dish is as follows:
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound of 97% lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 1 cup of minced onion
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons of dried oregano
  • 1 bottle of 26 ounce spaghetti sauce
  • 1 package of lasagna noodles
  • 16 ounces of low fat cottage cheese
  • 2 cups of reduced fat mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Brown the ground beef and onions.
  3. Add the garlic and oregano and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in the spaghetti sauce, stir well, and warm through.
  5. Begin to layer in a nonstick casserole dish as follows: meat mixture, lasagna noodles, cottage cheese, mozzarella.
  6. Continue layering until ingredients run out.
  7. Cover with a piece of foil.
  8. Bake 30 minutes.
  9. Uncover the dish and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
This recipe is so delicious! After having this I will never make another lasagna recipe again. The ingredients meld together perfectly, the texture is ideal, and it is very easy to make. Not to mention this can feed a large crowd easily and no one will guess that this is a healthier version. Tip: For the spaghetti sauce I like to use Prego Light Smart Traditional Pasta Sauce. It is incredibly delicious as well as a healthier alternative to ordinary pasta sauce.
